Where other once great companies have dropped the ball in recent years, Shout Factory has come to pick it up and carry it further and further.  While searching the net for upcoming DVD’s I found three new releases from Shout Factory that are sure to tickle many horror fans pink….or blood red at least.  Jason Parker notified us all that The Psycho Legacy was coming on October 19th of this year, and now you can see  the cover art for the DVD to the right.  Also coming in October are two forgotten gems in the form of a double feature: The Evil and Twice Dead.  Shout Factory is also gracing us with re-issues of the long out of print Slumber Party Massacre trilogy.  The cover art for the other two October releases are inside.

Both The Evil and Twice Dead are being released under the “Roger Corman Cult Classics” collections and were candidates for the next installment of VCR Theater.  So I’m very happy to say you can all see those films with your own eyes come October 5th.  The Evil follows Richard Crenna and Andrew Prine as they attempt to renovate an old mansion and turn it into a clinic.  The Evil is a pretty straight-forward haunted house flick but it has one of the most bizarre endings I’ve ever seen.  Twice Dead is much more of an eighties haunted house movie involving a family who must deal with both the local gangs and the ghosts that haunt their new home.  I recommend both films and would have bought them separately.

Also under the “Roger Corman” label comes Slumber Party Massacre 1, 2, and 3.  Slumber Party Massacre II is one of the best “bad” movies ever made and makes this set a must-own.  All three films follow a different “Driller Killer” and he takes down nubile, young co-eds.  The killer in Part II looks like Andrew Dice Clay and has his drill mounted on his guitar…which he plays with devilish glee every time he kills someone.
